Ex-workers of "Khimprom" claim problems with employment in Volgograd
In Volgograd, 1574 former workers of the plant "Khimprom" are registered at the employment centre, and only 70 former employees of the plant found new jobs. According to former factory workers, to find a job is the most difficult for "employees close to retirement age."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2012, the plant "Khimprom", which was a part of the state corporation "Rostekh", was declared bankrupt. Starting from January, a lot of workers were made redundant. By February 27, the number of dismissed workers reached 1362. On March 23, more than 540 people lost their jobs on the fifth wave of reduction of personnel.
According to Marina Degtyarenko, a former employee of the plant "Khimprom", a lot of her former colleagues found job at the plant "Caustic". According to the woman, many of former employees of the plant "Khimprom" have been "disappointed", since they want to find a job according to their abilities and possibilities, but not all of them succeed.
According to Irina Saigina, the head of the employment assistance and information department of the Volgograd employment centre, officials started to form a group for "retraining former employees of the plant 'Khimprom' on popular specialties in the region."
Dismissal from the plant "Khimprom" may fall under the criteria of mass reduction of personnel. This opinion was expressed by Elena Gerasimova, the Director of the autonomous non-commercial organization "Centre for Social and Labour Rights". According to her, dismissed employees "should be offered jobs corresponding to their specialties or others suitable".
