Woman from Izberbash claims policemen demand to register her minor children at police station

Zarema Magomedova, a wife of sentenced resident of Izberbash, has reported being visited by policemen, who insist on the registration at the police station of her 3- and 4-year-old children. Officials from the local police station claim they know nothing about that.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2013, the Supreme Court of Dagestan found Murad Alibekov, the husband of Zarema Magomedova, guilty of the murder of the head of the Pension Fund's office and the attempt on the life of a policeman. In March 2014, the woman claimed being under pressure that was expressed in calls for questioning to the local police station without presenting documents and demands to undergo DNA tests.

According to Zarema Magomedova, at present, she is being visited by policemen, who demand a meeting with her 3- and 4-year-old children to register them at the police station.

Zarema Magomedova intends to file complaints to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan and to the Children' Ombudsman for Dagestan in case if the pressure continues.

A member of the Dagestan Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) has reported that earlier, their NGO has never faced a situation when law enforcers demand to register children, whose parents are serving their sentences.

Djamal Aliev, an advocate of the Dagestani Advocates' Bar, has noted that the actions of the policemen, who demand the registration of minor children at the police station, are unlawful and can be challenged at prosecutor's offices and courts.
