Astrakhan City Manager calls housing and transport problems as his priorities

Oleg Polumordvinov, the new City Manager of Astrakhan treats the problems of dilapidated houses and traffic congestion as key areas of his work.

Let us remind you that Oleg Polumordvinov was elected to be the new City Manager of Astrakhan on March 12.

He has acknowledged that the problem of dilapidated houses is very serious in Astrakhan. According to statistics of the city administration, every fifth of family, that is, about 100,000 of population, needs improvement of housing conditions.

"Astrakhan still has entire neighbourhoods of wooden rotted houses 100-150 years old. The most conservative estimates show that we need pretty lots of funds to promptly resettle all in need to better houses," said the city manager.

The city also suffers from bad roads; however, according to the manager, in the past few years, this problem has been addressed successfully, thanks in part to the regional road fund, where Polumordvinov himself was one of the founders.
