Opposition accused Georgian authorities of weakness in context of Russian-South Ossetian treaty

The Georgian authorities and the opposition have agreed in the negative assessment of the treaty signed by Russia and South Ossetia. At the same time, the opposition has once again accused the Georgian authorities of weakness.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 18, in Moscow, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Leonid Tibilov signed a Russian-South-Ossetian alliance and integration treaty.

The whole world is negatively treating Russia's actions, which would not notice the Tbilisi's constructive policy, said the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in his comment on the above treaty.

A similar statement was made by Zurab Abashidze, a special representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for Interrelations with Russia.

"While earlier the West criticized Russia for such destructive actions and expressed concern, now Russia is under the economic sanctions, imposed by the West, which impact Russia greatly. Russia is paying quite a fee for its aggressive and unjust actions," Abashidze said live on air of the Georgian "Imedi" TV Company.

On March 19, the MPs from the ruling coalition "Georgian Dream" and from the opposition spoke to reporters also pointed out that Russia continues its aggressive policy and occupation. Oppositionists have accused the authorities of Georgia of weakness and inability to make "practical steps", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
