Magomed Khazbiev put on international wanted list, his advocate reports

Ingush opposition activist Magomed Khazbiev has been put on the international wanted list, while he remains under public protection in Chechnya. This was reported by advocate Khedy Ibrieva. According to investigators, the activist went to Kiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 1, according to Khedy Ibrieva, the advocate of Magomed Khazbiev, the activist was attacked in Grozny. However, he was not injured. In Ingushetia, Magomed Khazbiev and his family members were suspected of stealing vehicles and storing weapons. Magomed Khazbiev, who was put on the wanted list, treated the suspicions voiced by the police as political persecution.

"On Friday, March 13, the court considered our complaint, in which I complained about the inaction of the investigator who ignored our requests and complaints. Prior to taking part in the session, I got acquainted with the materials of the investigation. And I found out that Magomed had already been found guilty and put on the international wanted list. No one notified me or my client about that even in oral form," Khedy Ibrieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Khedy Ibrieva has noted that, according to the investigators, Magomed Khazbiev has "left the place of his registration and is now in Ukraine, in the city of Kiev."

"However, my client is in Chechnya under public protection, and the materials confirming his presence in the Chechen Republic have been presented to the investigating agency to consider the criminal case against Magomed Khazbiev. This measure is applied to him as a part of the criminal investigation into the attempt on his life and means that he is under protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Chechen Republic and that he has no freedom of movement," Khedy Ibrieva has said.

According to the advocate, Magomed Khazbiev has been put on the international wanted list for the court to make a decision about his arrest.
