Beslan Children's Street named in Italian city

In Italy, the city of Campo San Martino has named one of its streets in memory of the children who fell victim to the terror act in Beslan in 2004.

On September 1, 2004, a grouping of terrorists seized 1128 hostages at the School No. 1 of Beslan. The special operation to free the hostages was completed only on September 3, 2004. 186 children and 148 adults fell victim to the terror act. 810 persons were injured.

In Campo San Martino, Beslan Children's Street was opened in the presence of Paolo Tonin, the City Mayor, and Luca Zaia, the Governor of the Veneto Region. The ceremony was also attended by Alexander Nurizade, the General Consul of the Russian Federation in Milan, and Ennio Bordato, the President of the Italian Charity Foundation "Help Us Save the Children".

"We decided to dedicate a street name to 'Beslan's Children' to remind about the terrible crime that killed innocent children," the Mayor of Campo San Martino said as quoted by the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
