Relatives of two residents of Balakhani state their detention by power agents

Brothers Magomed and Sagid Gadjiev were detained on Friday morning in the village of Balakhani, Untsukul District of Dagestan, their relatives have reported.

According to Magomed Gadjiev, a resident of the village, his nephews Magomed and Sagid Gadjiev were detained after a search. He added that earlier the police had no claims to his nephews.

"This is not the first case with local residents. Detainees are tortured, forced to confess of various crimes and, thus, are forced to go to the forest; because after serving their sentences these people have no choice, but to find a weapon and go into the underground – nobody wants to be tortured again," said Magomed Gadjiev.

According to his story, local power agents "gain profit from maintaining tension in the region, otherwise, they will lose their jobs and revenues."

In February, Adalo Iskhakov, a native of Balakhani, was kidnapped in Makhachkala. The GOVD (City Interior Division) of Makhachkala claimed that they knew nothing about the kidnapping of Iskhakov.

His relatives believe that Iskhakov was kidnapped by law enforcers.
