Beslan Shavanov, who blew him up with a grenade in Grozny, buried
Beslan Shavanov, who died at the explosion of a grenade in Grozny, was buried in the village of Alkhazurovo, Urus-Martan District of Chechnya. His fellow villagers doubt of his involvement in the murder of Nemtsov in Moscow. In January, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) awarded the family of Shavanov an essential compensation for the disappearance of his brothers Mairbek and Aslambek.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to law enforcers, that on March 7 in a high-rise apartment building in Grozny, power agents blocked a local resident, who later received fatal wounds at a grenade explosion. The casualty was identified as Bislan (Beslan) Shavanov, 30, who earlier had been never wanted for the commission of any crimes. Later, it became known that he had spent 10 years serving in the battalion "Sever" (North) and resigned for health reasons.
Even before the reports about the identification, the "Interfax" reported, referring to a law enforcement source, that the suicide bombing was committed by a suspect of murdering Nemtsov; however, there was no official confirmation of this information. The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, on his page in the Instagram called Shavanov a brave warrior, as well as the suspect Zaur Dadaev, who was arrested in Moscow and who had also served in the battalion "Sever".
On March 10, Dadaev, who is kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Lefortovo", expressed doubt, during a meeting with POC members that Shavanov had committed a self-explosion.
