Two men convicted in Chechnya for taking part in attack on Chervlyonnaya

The Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya has sentenced two men, after finding them guilty of the assault in 1999 on the village of Chervlyonnaya, Shelkovskoy District of Chechnya, to 8 years in prison each. The attack was headed by Shamil Basaev and Amir Khattab.

Arslan Taushev, a resident of the Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, and Rasul Koshmanbetov, a resident of the city Novy Urengoy, were found guilty under the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation dealing with "banditry" and "attempt on the life of a law enforcer", the Department of the Russian FSB for the Stavropol Territory has reported.

The TASS reports, referring to the Department, that its agents have gathered "the overwhelming evidence of criminal activity of Taushev and Koshmanbetov."
