Defence of three suspects in Nemtsov's murder case challenge their arrest
The defence has appealed against the ruling of the Basmanny Court of Moscow to arrest Khamzat Bakhaev, Shagit Gubashev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, suspected of killing the politician Boris Nemtsov.
According to the advocate Sofya Rubasskaya, the legality of their arrest will be examined by the appellate instance – the Moscow City Court (MCC), since the above ruling was handed down on all the three figurants together, the TASS reports.
In total, in relation to the murder of Boris Nemtsov the court has arrested five persons. On March 8, the Basmanny Court of Moscow ruled to arrest, until April 28, Zaur Dadaev and Anzor Gubashev (he is a second cousin of Shagid Gubashev), who have been charged with murder. The judge stated that Dadaev's involvement in the murder "was confirmed by his confessions"; however, at the trial the defendants refused to plead guilty.
On March 9, information appeared about the detention of two more persons in connection with Nemtsov's murder, which took place in the Shelkovskoy District of Chechnya, a source of the edition named "Rosbalt" has reported. A source of the "Caucasian Knot" from power bodies of Chechnya confirmed the detention, adding that one of the detainees was a law enforcer and a close relative of the suspect Tamerlan Eskerkhanov. However, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that they have no information about the detention of two suspects.
