KChR: 85 people donate blood in memory of deportation victims
The blood donor action "Blood remembers everything!" in memory of victims of deportation of Balkar nationals was held today in the cities of Karachaevsk and Cherkessk in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR). 85 people gave their blood.
"This action is dated to the anniversary of the deportation of the Balkar part of the Karachay-Balkar people that took place on March 8, 1944. We want to show that we remember everything; and we have forgotten nothing," Azret Karaev, the organizer of the action and the director of the Karachay branch of the Development Fund of Karachay-Balkar Youth "Elbrusoid", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, "the youth should know and remember both the tragic events of their people, and their achievements – our heroes of the Russian Federation and of the Great Patriotic War."
"At a time, when sons of our people fought at the fronts of the Second World War, their families were evicted from their native places; and tens of thousands of children, elderly persons and, women died during the deportation. We can't close our eyes to this and forget it. This is our history," Azret Karaev has added.
