Trial in case of Sheikh al-Chirkawi postponed because of involvement of new advocate

In Dagestan, the court session on the case of the terror act committed in the house of Sheikh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi is postponed to February 26. The court has made such a decision to provide the new advocate with time to examine the materials. The advocate is involved in the case instead of beaten Murad Magomedov.

Defendant Magomedali Amirkhanov has said that he had signed an agreement with new advocate Taibat Salmanova. She will represent his interests instead of defender Murad Magomedov, who was attacked on February 4.

On August 28, 2012, in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan, an explosion occurred in the house of Sufi Sheikh Said Atsaev (al-Chirkawi). As a result, eight persons were killed, including a female suicide bomber, the Sheikh, and six of his followers. According to investigators, suicide bomber Aminat Saprykina was trained by Dagestani residents Shikhmirza Labazanov, Magomedali Amirkhanov, and Magomed Gadjiev. Shikhmirza Labazanov admits his guilt partially, and other defendants plead not guilty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 4, advocate Murad Magomedov, who defended accused Magomedali Amirkhanov, was beaten in front of the Supreme Court of Dagestan in Makhachkala. Murad Magomedov, according to his friend, associates the attack with his involvement in the case of Sheikh al-Chirkawi.
