Gadjimurad Omarov accuses Deputy Minister of Dagestani government of involvement in attack on him

In Dagestan, the leader of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party has stated that an official from the local government was involved in the attack on him. According to the leader of the Dagestani branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party, attackers said that they "were sent by people from the leader of the republic."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 21, Gadjimurad Omarov was beaten in Makhachkala after the conference of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party. Gadjimurad Omarov himself has said that after the incident, he decided to go to Moscow for medical treatment, where doctors diagnosed him with fracture in collarbone and brain concussion.

The leader of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party states that the people who beat him were led by "the former assistant of the leader of the republic, the current Deputy Minister in the Dagestani government," the "Kommersant" quotes Gadjimurad Omarov as stating. According to the victim, the police did not intervene in the incident.

The investigation into beating of Gadjimurad Omarov is to be carried out under special control of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). This was announced in the statement made by the Presidium of the Central Council of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party, which described the incident as "blatant and cynical attempt to put pressure on the opposition."

In their turn, the authorities of the republic have rejected their involvement in the attack on Gadjimurad Omarov. The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office checks the information about the beating of the leader of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party, its website reports.
