On February 16-22, no victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were registered

During the week from February 16 to February 22, 2015, the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus brought no victims. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Attacks on civilians

On February 17, in Nazran, the house of Magomed Khazbiev, an Ingush oppositionist and the head of the regional branch of the Party of People's Freedom, was shelled by unidentified gunmen. At that moment, Khazbiev's parents were in the house, as well as his wife with her child and the daughter-in-law. As a result, no one was hurt. A check of the incident is conducted; and Khazbiev treats the shelling of his house as an attempt to hamper his oppositional activities.

Detentions

On February 20, policemen detained a resident of Dagestan on suspicion of selling firearms. According to the police, the suspect was trying to sell a Kalashnikov submachine gun and ammunition there to for 50,000 roubles. A respective criminal case on illegal arms trafficking was opened against him.

Disappearances

On February 15, two women-residents of the city of Argun, who had gone to the forest to collect wild garlic (ramson), disappeared in the forest between Argun and the village of Petropavlovskaya of Chechnya. Their relatives were not been able to contact them and reported the incident to the rescue service. On February 16, the women were found by employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).
