Relatives of Avetisyan family demand to meet GPP of Armenia

Relatives of the Avetisyan family, massacred in Gyumri, have occupied the office of Raffi Aslanyan, the Public Prosecutor of the Shirak Region, demanding a meeting or a telephone talk with the General Public Prosecutor (GPP) of Armenia. Aslanyan has left his workplace.

On Monday, relatives came into the office and told Aslanyan that they should stay there until their questions were answered by Gevorg Kostanyan, the Armenian GPP.

In particular, they expressed their indignation at the fact that although over 40 days had elapsed after the tragedy, investigators failed, in their words, to provide them with any information, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Aslanyan advised them to write to Gevorg Kostanyan; However, relatives insisted that Aslanyan should call Kostanyan by phone and arrange an appointment, or allow communicating with him directly, the News Agency "News.am" reports.

Earlier, the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia appointed a check of the assumption that the killer Valery Permyakov could have previous contacts with the Avetisyan family. The IC also granted the request of Yerem Sarkisyan, the advocate of the successors of the Avetisyan family, to conduct investigations aiming to find out whether Permyakov could commit his crime not alone, whether he had really got into the house of the family by accident, and whether the crime could have been premeditated.
