During the week from February 9 to February 15, 2015, at least one person was lost in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The casualty is an alleged member of the armed underground of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
Attacks on power agents
On February 12, at about 1:00 a.m. Moscow time, at the second kilometre of the highway Nartkala-Urvan, in the Urvan District of the KBR, policemen tried to stop a car for inspection; however, the driver opened fire and tried to escape. He was killed by response fire. There were no other victims among civilians and law enforcers. The casualty was identified by the police as a resident of Nalchik, born in 1980. His car was examined; and policemen found a PSM pistol with three rounds in it and an improvised explosive device (IED) having power of one kilogram of TNT (trotyl) equivalent and stuffed with construction dowels. Because of danger to transport it, the IED was neutralized on the spot. In the trunk of the car, they found a pack of dowels and a bag of ammonium nitrate, which is used for making IEDs.
Special and counterterrorist operations
At 2:00 p.m. Moscow time on February 14, the Derbent and Tabasaran Districts of Dagestanlifted the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime that was in force since February 4.
Detentions
On February 11, law enforcers detained young people in the marketplace located in central Grozny. They stopped young men with beards and shaved-off moustaches, asked why they had shaved them off; and if the answer did not suit them, they took guys away. According to eyewitnesses, a young man, who would not leave his brother, whom power agents tried to take away, was beaten up. Later on the same day, all the guys detained in the marketplace were released. Eyewitnesses have associated the power agents' actions with the incident in the village of Tsentoroy, where the logo of the "Islamic State" was painted on the wall of a building. On February 12, detentions of young men with beards continued. Law enforcers detained three young men with beards and shaved-off moustaches and took then to some unknown place. Eyewitnesses reported that power agents took the guys out of a route bus No. 4 (the route from the "Berkat" Shopping Centre to the 36th section of the Staropromyslovskiy District of Grozny), and took them away. It is unknown, who the detainees were and why they were detained. They were released from the police a few hours later.
