Chechen Prosecutor's Office demands to close 85 pages of the social network "VKontakte"

A lawsuit demanding to restrict access to the pages of 85 users of the social network "VKontakte" was submitted to the court by the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya. Among the materials posted on these pages are caricatures from the magazine "Charlie Hebdo".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the French satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" published caricatures on Prophet Muhammad, for which it was criticized, including by Muslims.

While monitoring the social network "VKontakte", employees of the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya identified the users, whose pages contain a variety of extremist materials and repost caricatures on Prophet Muhammad from the French magazine, said the spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office.

According to his story, placement of caricatures was considered to be an insult of believers' religious feelings.

"In this regard, on January 26, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office filed a suit to the appropriate judicial bodies asking to oblige the local Internet providers to block access to these materials," said the above spokesman.

Let us remind you that in September 2012, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya, the republic's Internet providers blocked access to the YouTube because of the placement there of the film "Innocence of Muslims", which had sparked a wave of protests in the Muslim world.
