Armenian protesters demand international intervention into situation in NKR

The participants of the action held at the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the UN Office in Armenia expressed their demand to take diplomatic steps to stop sabotage actions and provocations undertaken by the Azerbaijani party on the border of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and the Tavush Region of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported the aggravation of the situation in the conflict zone in the NKR. Thus, on January 23, two Armenian soldiers perished in that zone, and one was wounded. On January 24, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported liquidation of a subversive group on the border with Azerbaijan. In its turn, the MoD of Azerbaijan reported the death of three soldiers in the conflict zone.

Today, about 50 activists of the youth union "Sarkis Tkhruni" and the Social Democratic Party "Gnchakyan" gathered in front of the building of the Armenian MFA. The participants handed a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Eduard Nalbandyan, in which they asked to invite officials of the OSCE, Ambassadors of Russia, France and the United States to Armenia and discuss the situation on the border.

The international community "must respond to what is happening and demand from Azerbaijan to stop sabotage and provocations on the border," says the letter.

Let us remind you that on January 23, journalists from about 20 editions held a protest action and demanded that the Armenian MFA to halt Azerbaijani violations in the area of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
