Rally in Azerbaijan burns down flags of USA, Israel, France and Armenia (+video)

The participants of the today's rally in the settlement of Nardaran near Baku have resolutely condemned the publication of caricatures on Prophet Muhammad and manifestations of Islamophobia in the West. In the course of the protest action they burned down the flags of France, Israel, United States and Armenia.

The action was not coordinated with the authorities, but the police did not interfere with it.

The action held in the central square of Nardaran named after Imam Hussein was attended by about 200 people, who held posters reading: "Islam is not defenceless!", "France is afraid of Islam", "Long live Prophet!" "I'm Prophet's follower!" and others, as well as religious flags and tricolour flag of Azerbaijan.

"True democrats will never offend people of other faiths," said Natig Meshadi, one of the elders of Nardaran. "This is a provocation against the Islam and Muslims. The attack on the editorial office of 'Charlie Hebdo' was backed by anti-Islamic forces; and it was not occasional that the incident was used to inject hostility against Muslims and insult the Prophet. But our religion is peaceful. We should not yield to provocations. Muslims around the world must peacefully protest and show that they will not tolerate abuse of their saints and their religion," said Natig.

Speaking about the consolidation of Muslims "to repulse Islam enemies", he highly praised the recent action against caricatures in Grozny. "I am grateful for the action in Grozny to our Sunni brothers," said Natig Meshadi.
