Solo pickets against war in Ukraine held in Volgograd

Two pickets against the Russian aggression in Ukraine were held in Volgograd and passed without detentions.

The pickets were held at the intersection of the Alley of Heroes and Lenin Avenue. The picketers were holding posters reading "No to Russian-Ukrainian war!" and "Russia is at war with Ukraine".

"I'm ashamed to be silent. The armed conflict in South-Eastern Ukraine lasts for almost a year. Clearly, this is a continuation of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine with the aim to regain its vassals," Boris Stikhin, a solo picketer and a member of the International Union of Anarchists, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Volgograd anarchist has noted that initially he had doubts about the nature of war in South-Eastern Ukraine: he had thought that the local population of Donbas was fighting for independence; but then his doubts disappeared.

Ruslan Nurushev, the second solo picketer, also believes that Russia had committed an act of aggression against Ukraine. "First, Russia 'privatized' the Crimea; and now it is in fact at illegal war in Ukraine," said the activist.

A police patrol and agents in plainclothes were on duty near the picketers. One of them wrote down the picketers' names and made video record of their posters. Activists were not detained; at 3:00 p.m., they folded up their posters and left.
