Student accused of promoting terrorism transported to Stavropol SIZO

Today, the student Magomed Aliev, accused of promoting terrorism, was moved from the hospital to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of Stavropol, the lawyer Alieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. His relatives fear that his health condition may worsen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Aliev, a native of Dagestan and a student of the Stavropol Medical Academy, was detained on November 21 on suspicion of recruiting mercenaries for going to war in Syria. On November 27, the young man was taken from SIZO to the hospital; and doctors removed a pen out of his eye. According to the local department of the FSIN (Russian Federal Penitentiary Service), Aliev tried to commit suicide. His relatives believe that agents tried to kill him, and ask to open a criminal case on causing grievous bodily harm to him.

Today, the Stavropol Territorial Court had planned to consider the appeal of Aliev's defence against his arrest. However, the lawyer Olga Kamilova claims that she has not received notification from the court and does not know whether the session took place, since she "was busy looking for her client."

"At 9:00 in the morning I learned that Aliev had been taken from the hospital; and all the day we tried to find out where he was taken. As a result, the boss of the Stavropol SIZO assured me that he is there," Olga Kamilova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Djamilya Ibragimova, Aliev's sister, "the information about his transfer to the SIZO was a shock" for the whole family.

"My brother is still very bad; he can’t stand and move on his own; besides, during the last three days he has inexplicably high body temperature. Doctors were categorically against the transportation," Djamilya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On December 19, Magomed Aliev was charged under the article of "promoting terrorist activities"; however, he has not been questioned yet, said the lawyer Olga Kamilova.

"That is, they violated the defendant's rights just in order to indict him on time," she added.
