AI reports threats to Dagestani lawyers Magomedova and Suslanov

The Dagestani lawyers Sapiyat Magomedova and Musa Suslanov receive threats associated with their activities, said the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) and invited to sign an appeal for their defence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the lawyers Sapiyat Magomedova and Musa Suslanov said that in June 2013 and June 2014 they received threats and demands to refuse to represent the interests of relatives of Gamzatov brothers, who were killed in Kizlyar.

On November 20-25, for lawyers were followed by unidentified persons, Magomedova told the AI. During this period, two suspicious cars were on duty at her house and her law firm in Khasavyurt; and on November 20 during her trips around the city she was also followed by some car, said the AI's website.

Earlier, the AI stated the intolerable atmosphere of threats and intimidation, in which lawyers have to work in Northern Caucasus.

On April 9, 2013, Sapiyat Magomedova was a laureate of the contest "Hero of the Caucasus-2012" conducted by the "Caucasian Knot".
