Khadija Ismayilova's home searched in Baku

Law enforcers have searched the apartment of the arrested journalist Khadija Ismayilova and confiscated the films, computer equipment and business cards belonging to her.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5 Khadija Ismayilova was questioned at the Baku City Prosecutor's Office, after which the court ruled to put her into custody as accused of incitement to a suicide attempt of her former colleague Tural Mustafaev. Her defence treats the accusation as absurd and her arrest as illegal.

The search of Khadija Ismayilova's apartment was conducted on December 6 in the presence of her advocates Elton Guliev and Khalid Bagirov, and her mother, as a blogger Mekhman Guseinov, a Khadija's close friend, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his version, the search that lasted for about five hours resulted in confiscation of 58 feature films, a modem and business cards.

Mekhman Guseinov has rejected the investigators' version that Ismayilova could exert any pressure on Mustafaev. "The allegations that Khadija had 'haunted' Tural are so absurd that should not even be commented on. Khadija is absolutely innocent; and her arrest is clearly political in nature," said Guseinov.
