Lithuania: son of former Chechen President Dudaev fined for forging documents
A court in Lithuania has sentenced Degi Dudaev, a son of the former leader of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Johar Dudaev, to a fine of 940 euros. The defendant was found guilty of forging documents as a member of an organized group.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March 2011 Degi Dudaev, who lives in Vilnius, was detained with seven fake Lithuanian passports. As he explained, the forged documents were intended for two families from the Caucasus, who planned to move to Europe for security reasons. At the trial Dudaev pled guilty, but denied that he had acted within an organized group.
The Kaunas District Court announced the verdict on December 4. The court found that the roles within an organized group were distributed in committing the crime: Dudaev organized receiving and sending photos, while his accomplices forged documents at his request, the "Interfax" reports.
In imposing the sentence, the court took into account the time spent by Dudaev in custody.
Dudaev was also charged with possession of drugs, but as to this crime the time limitation has expired, the "Mir24" reports. Degi Dudaev was going to leave Lithuania, the "Obzor.lt" wrote with reference to his advocate.
