UFSIN of Stavropol Territory reports suicide attempt of suspected terrorist (+video)

Magomed Aliev, a student of a Stavropol higher school, who was detained on suspicion of aiding terrorism and who was hospitalized in grave condition, tried to commit suicide, says the Stavropol Territorial Department of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as UFSIN). Magomed is in an induced coma after a surgery; his relatives believe that law enforcers tried to kill Aliev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Aliev was detained in Moscow on November 21. On November 24, he was put into pre-trial prison, and on November 27, he was brought to hospital in a grave condition. Doctors removed a pen out of his eye socket, which was completely inside his head.

Magomed Aliev himself drove a pen into his eye, trying to commit suicide; this was recorded by surveillance cameras, Svetlana Klinchaeva, the head of the press service of the UFSIN, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

His sister Djamilya Ibragimova asserts that the UFSIN's version that her brother wounded himself is inconsistent.

"The pen penetrated deep inside and hit the cerebellum; only the cap was left outside. A man is unable to hit himself with such force - a pain shock won't allow driving the pen deeper," she explained.

As for the case against Magomed as such, he is suspected of recruiting young people to go to war in Syria, Djamilya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"There are five figurants in the case, together with my brother; all of them were familiar with the guys, who went to Syria in December 2013. They are forced to incriminate themselves, allegedly, they had recruited those guys. It's impossible to prove it, since they can't ask those who left; therefore, they are forcing the detainees to confess," said the sister.

Various sources, including the Russian FSB, have confirmed that militants from Russia are fighting for the "Islamic State", says the document prepared by the "Caucasian Knot": "Caucasians in the ranks of IS (ISIL)".

According to Magomed Aliev's relatives, his condition now is grave but stable.
