Vremenny residents call on public community to take part in evaluation of their losses

Residents of the village of Vremenny of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, which was cordoned off because of the counterterrorist operation (CTO), have written an open letter to residents of the republic, human rights defenders and journalists asking to attend a meeting with the Commission to assess the damage scheduled for November 26, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"We want journalists and human rights defenders to attend the meeting, since they can act as independent disinterested persons who will see all the chaos with their own eyes," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aminat Magomedova, a resident of the village of Vremenny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 18, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) is underway in Vremenny adjacent to the village of Gimry. At the very beginning of the special operation, law enforcers cordoned off the settlement of Vremenny. Most of the local residents left the village in the course of the special operation.

"We appeal to residents of the republic. Some of you know a little bit about our situation, and others are not aware of our tragedy. We remind you that, starting from September 18, a 'legal' CTO regime was introduced in our village. We are homeless for two months already! We are 230 families consisting of 830 persons, including 171 children of school and preschool age, children with disabilities, weak older people, and pregnant women. We are thrown into the street by law enforcers, and our leaders (local, regional and national ones), who should have provided us with shelters and food, but do nothing," states the appeal received by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The document was signed by 30 persons. The collection of signatures is underway, and later, the document will be sent to all the Dagestani media and human rights organizations, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by the authors of the appeal.
