Residents of Akatsij Street in Sochi complain that they are evicted

Lyudmila Savelieva, a resident of Sochi, who was evicted, with his family, from No. 5/1 in Akatsij Street without providing any other housing, reports that court marshals demand from her to abandon the barn, which was adapting for residence in the place of the demolished house. Otherwise, they threaten to use heavy machinery to demolish the barn on November 24. However, according to Lyudmila, the term of the appeal against the court's decision on this issue has not yet expired.

On November 14, the Saveliev family appealed against the ruling of the Adler District Court of October 31, 2014, to demolish the barn, where the family of five persons now lives. Lyudmila Savelieva argues that she, her son, daughter and young grandchildren became homeless because of the Olympics. They were evicted into the street; and the house itself was demolished because of the construction of the M-27 Highway. She states that her family received neither compensation nor other housing.

The Savelievs intend to complain to the prosecutor, chairman of the Adler Court and to the Service of Court Marshals of Sochi.

"Under this category of cases – on demolition of unauthorized constructions – cases are subject to appeal against within one month; and until the court decision comes into force, nobody has the right to break into people's residence, even if it is unauthorized. Otherwise, it is an illegal penetration into one's housing, punishable as a criminal offence," said Alexander Boichenko, the head of the Sochi branch of the Moscow Bar Association.
