Makhachkala hunger-striker Mamatkhan Baisultanov hospitalized

Today, because of sharp health deterioration, Mamatkhan Baisultanov, one of the hunger-strikers demanding resignation of the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, was taken to the First City Hospital of Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the hunger strike in a house in a Makhachkala outskirt is held from October 29. The protesters assert that they try to draw attention to the problem of corruption in the republic and achieve resignation of Ramazan Abdulatipov. On October 31, Magomed Guseinov, 62, had to stop the hunger strike because of poor health; also, two women refused to take part in the protest action.

The hospitalization of Mamatkhan Baisultanov was reported today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ruslan Rasulov, the head of the Dagestani branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party.

"His blood tension went up greatly; and we called an ambulance. Mamatkhan was taken to the First City Hospital of Makhachkala. In spite of all the problems, the remaining hunger-strikers are going to continue. Their health status is satisfactory," said Rasulov.

Today, the hunger strike was joined by Magomed Kebedov, a social activist from the Bezhta District of Dagestan. Thus, as of today, there are eight hunger-strikers.
