Prosecutors announce 13-million-rouble embezzlement in Dagestani Ministry of Agriculture

According to the Dagestani Region Prosecutor's Office, an audit conducted at the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs revealed a theft of more than 13 million roubles.

Prosecutors checked the fulfilment by the Ministry of legislation in the sphere of support of agriculture. The audit revealed improper fulfilment by the Ministry's officials of their duties to examine the documents submitted by applicants for receiving the state support.

The poor examination of candidates' documents resulted in the embezzlement of budget funds totalling to more than 13 million roubles.

"With the aim to launch criminal prosecution, 10 materials have been sent to investigating authorities. Currently, six criminal cases have been opened on them," says the official statement posted on the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Dagestan.

According to the Office, a presentation has been sent to the Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuffs of Dagestan demanding to eliminate the revealed violations of the law and bring those responsible to disciplinary responsibility.
