Two Dagestani policemen to stand trial on charges of extorting bribe from suspects

The case against two operative agents of the Derbent ROVD (District Interior Division) of the MIA of Dagestan, accused of a fraud through abuse of office, has been sent to the court.

According to investigators, on June 9, the accused policemen brought to the ROVD two locals suspected of drug trafficking, and told them about their supposed arrest. For changing the measure of freedom restraint policemen demanded 100,000 roubles, says the website of the ID for Dagestan of the ICRF.

A few days later, in Derbent, at the request of one of the victims, the policemen were detained at receiving a bribe of 10,000 roubles, the ICRF has reported.

Currently, the case accompanied by the approved indictment has arrived to the court for consideration on the merits. The policemen are charged with the committing of a fraud by abusing their official position. The sanctions under this article of the Criminal Code assume up to six years in prison.
