Social network users criticize "Caucasian March" held in Moscow

Most of the users of social networks questioned by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent have treated negatively the "Caucasian March", held in Moscow on the National Unity Day, calling it "unnatural" and treating the participation in it of Caucasian natives as humiliating. However, some of the respondents believe that against the background of strained interethnic relations in Russia, such action was a good decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the National Unity Day is celebrated in Russia on November 4. On that day, the central Moscow hosted a march of activists of Caucasian public and youth organizations – natives from Northern Caucasus.

The participation of the Caucasian youth in the march was organized by the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus (RCPC), the All-Russian Interethnic Youth Union (ARIEYU) and the Foundation for Promotion of Karachay-Balkar Youth "Elbrusoid", said Azamat Mintsaev, a blogger and the deputy chairman of the ARIEYU.

He added that the organizers of the Caucasian March deliberately tried to get away from politics and "provide this day with the sense of unity and friendship."

The position of Caucasian activists is caused by the attempt to oppose systematic accusations against the natives of the Caucasus, said Gasan Gadjiev, a Facebook user.

As noted by Kantemir Khurtaev, the head of the commission for harmonization of interethnic relations and patriotic education of the Council of the Russian Ministry of Education and Sciences, the participation of Caucasian youth in the march took place in a festive atmosphere and in communication with representatives of various nationalities.
