Armenia: three oppositional parties create nationwide movement (+video)

Leaders of the "Prosperous Armenia", the "Heritage" and the "Armenian National Congress" (ANC) Parties have announced the establishment throughout the country the headquarters of the nationwide movement aimed to mobilize citizens to take part in the protest movement. According to oppositionists, the mobilization will be held when needed.

Raffi Ovannisyan, the leader of the "Heritage" Party, has claimed that Armenia needs a revolution of values in the name of a bright future. He has demanded to release political prisoners, including Shant Arutyunyan, Vardan Petrosyan, and Volodya Avetisyan, and noted that the tradition of political prisoners has been preserved in Armenia since the Soviet era. "There were political prisoners in Armenia during the regime of Levon Ter-Petrosyan. And at present, with Serzh Sargsyan, the situation is the same," Raffi Ovannisyan has said.

In his turn, Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" Party, has stated that he and his associates will seek the solutions to the problems through joint efforts, without any "Maidans". "We stand for the peaceful resignation of the government; however, but the 'Maidan' should not be replaced by stagnation," Gagik Tsarukyan has said.
