In Dagestan, DSPU students demand to announce the order on cancellation of department merge (+video)

Students of the Dagestani State Pedagogical University (DSPU), who suspended their hunger strike, demanded from the Acting Rector of the university to present them, on October 27, with a copy of the order, according to which the merging of the engineering-pedagogical and technological-economic departments was cancelled.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that about 250 students of the engineering-pedagogical department went on strike, and on October 21 began an endless hunger strike in protest against the merger of the two departments, which also threatened to change their graduation speciality.

On Friday, Magomed Abdulaev, the Acting Rector of the DSPU, announced at a meeting with teachers and students that the decision to merge the departments had been cancelled. This was reported by Papanesh Magomedova, a senior lecturer at the division of pedagogy and technologies of vocational training of the DSPU.

"If on Monday we are not provided with a written copy of the order to cancel the merge of the departments, it is not excluded that the hunger strike will continue,” explained the student Ashura Abakarova.
