Volgograd marks anniversary of terror act with memorial plaque and youth action

The day of October 21, 2014, marks the first anniversary of the suicide bombing committed in a passenger bus in Volgograd. The terror act took the lives of eight persons, including the female suicide bomber. Volgograd marks the anniversary of the terror act by opening a memorial plaque, holding a memorial service for the victims and a youth action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 21, 2013, an explosion occurred in a public bus. Six persons, including the suicide bomber, were killed at the place of the explosion. According to investigators, the suicide bombing was committed by Naida Asiyalova, a native of Dagestan. In total, 55 persons fell victim to the explosion. On November 18, one of the victims died.

Relatives of the victims spoke against holding public events on the anniversary. So, the memorial service will be attended only by relatives and friends of the victims of the terror act, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to an official from the district administration.

Churches of Volgograd will also hold memorial service for the victims of the terror act, the "V1.ru" reports with reference to the press service of the local diocese.

According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the instruction to make a bomb exploded in the bus was given by Murad Gasimov, the leader of the "Makhachkala" armed grouping, who was killed on November 19 in Makhachkala.
