Relatives of Elshan Salikhov, killed in Derbent, deny his involvement in militants' activities

According to family members of Elshan Salikhov, killed during the special operation in Derbent, the victim was not a member of the armed underground and had no problems with the police.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation in Derbent was held in the morning of October 16. As a result, three persons were killed. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), they planned to commit a terror act and then to leave to fight in Syria. According to NAC, the killed persons have been pre-identified as Nariman Askerov, Kurbanmagomed Kurbanov and Elshan Salikhov. Family members of Salikhov reported on October 17 that he was detained by the law enforcers prior to the special operation.

According to the Elshan Salikhov's wife, on the day when Elshan was killed, law enforcers carried out a search of their house and planted ammunition to him. This has been told today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by one of the victim's relatives, who preferred to remain anonymous.

"In the morning of October 16, their house was cordoned off by armed men. Elshan had noticed that and began to shout out of the window: 'Do not shoot, I'll be right out.' He was very afraid for his wife and children. The armed men forced him into their car and drove him away. And his wife took the children to the neighbours and returned home, where the search had already begun. She was afraid that they would plant something illegal. As a result, they still planted ammunition to a cabinet. And the search lasted until 1:00 p.m.," the source has said.

Elshan Salikhov's wife has claimed that the law enforcers behaved rudely and insulted her.

According to the victim's relative, Elshan Salikhov was not put on the wanted list and he had no earlier problems with the police.

In his turn, a source from the Derbent GOVD (City Interior Division) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Elshan Salikhov was aiding and abetting militants. The source from the Derbent GOVD has refused to clarify what crimes, according to investigators, Elshan Salikhov had ever committed.
