Starting from September 30, in Volgograd, mothers of large families keep standing in front of the building of the government of the Volgograd Region and demand a meeting with the Governor. Officials from the regional government have stated that they do their best to solve problems of mothers of large families and note that the meeting of the protesters with officials of the regional government is scheduled for October 13.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this February, parents with many children and parents of children with disabilities held a hunger strike at the building of the former Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). The hunger-strikers demanded to solve their housing problems and to increase the amount of aid and social assistance to families with many children and children with disabilities. On March 13, the hunger-strikers stopped their protest action and announced the creation of a public organization to protect rights of large families.
