In Dagestan, residents of Vremenny claim violation of their rights by law enforcers

Residents of the settlement of Vremenny, Untsukul District of Dagestan, where a large-scale special operation is underway, report that almost all civilians left the village. The villagers complain that law enforcers do not allow them to make video records of what is happening in the village and take their mobile phones away. According to the villagers, they did not succeed in their attempts to pass the information about the ongoing situation in the village to the authorities of the Russian Federation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, residents of Vremenny adjacent to the village of Gimry reported that their village was cordoned off by law enforcers. Besides, the villagers also reported that the law enforcers were going around households and were taking men away for identification. On September 28, the villagers were offered to leave their houses; however, they refused. According to the villagers, the school and the kindergarten in the village do not operate, and the law enforcers are destroying the farm buildings.

A local woman has noted that the majority of the villagers, who left Vremenny, found accommodation in the village of Gimry.

"We cannot return to our houses, and we cannot even get to the village closer than on the distance of the road. And we are not aware of the deadline of the special operation," the local woman has said.

On September 26, the law enforcers did not allow rights defenders to enter Vremenny. And at present, the activists express their concern over the methods used by law enforcers while conducting their special operation in Vremenny. Rights defenders believe the law enforcers' actions are unnecessarily cruel, and they wrote about that in their letter to the Dagestani leader Ramzan Abdulatipov. This was reported by a press release of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
