Suspected militant killed in Dagestan

On Thursday, a militant was shot dead by policemen in Makhachkala, said the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC). One policeman was wounded.

In the evening, employees of the patrol-and-post service (PPS) stopped a man intending to check his documents, but the latter threw a grenade at them and tried to escape, the NAC said.

Policemen killed the attacker, who was pre-identified as Alil Gadjiramazanov, who, according to law enforcers, was an active participant of the "Gunib" grouping, and since the end of 2013 "was in the underground."

The NAC has noted that Gadjiramazanov had repeatedly participated in the attempts on the life of law enforcers. "Gadjiramazanov was directly involved in the attack on the police in the outskirts of the village of Sogratl this year (on May 15, an armed clash burst out in Sogratl, resulting in death of three and wounding ten law enforcers, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), where three policemen were killed and ten others wounded,", the ITAR-TASS quotes its source from the NAC.
