Raul Khajimba inaugurated as President of Abkhazia
Abkhazia has held the inauguration of President-Elect Raul Khajimba. Out of the countries, which had recognized the independence of Abkhazia, delegations from Venezuela and Nauru failed to visit the ceremony; the rest of them – Russia, Transnistria, Nicaragua, Nagorno-Karabakh and South Ossetia – were present.
According to the legislation of Abkhazia, the President-Elect takes the oath on the 30th day after the announcement of the election results.
The inauguration was held in the Great Hall of the Cabinet of Ministers in the presence of the members of the Supreme Court. Khajimba took the oath of allegiance to the nation and the state, and also received the standard, the seal bearing the coat of arms of Abkhazia, a sabre and an Abkhaz walking stick.
Valery Bganba, the Speaker, confirmed the presence of delegations from Russia, Transnistria, Nicaragua and Nagorno-Karabakh. In particular, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Vladislav Surkov, an assistant to the Russian President, Rashid Nurgaliev, the Deputy Chair of the Russian Security Council, State Duma MPs and the leaders of North Ossetia, Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria, the ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the administration of the President of Abkhazia.
