Said Amirov's advocates to complain to ECtHR

As reported by Vladimir Postanyuk, an advocate of Said Amirov, the dismissed Mayor of Makhachkala, who was convicted for plotting a terror act, a complaint against Amirov's verdict will be lodged to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 9 this year Said Amirov was sentenced to 10 years, and his nephew Yusup Djaparov – to 8.5 years in high security colony on charges of plotting a terror act. The defendants refused to plead guilty. On July 15, their advocates lodged an appeal complaint. On September 18 the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the verdict to Said Amirov, passed by the North-Caucasian Military District Court.

According to Postanyuk, in some 6-8 weeks, the defence will submit, in parallel, a cassation appeal and a complaint to the ECtHR.

"There's no satisfaction; in fact, the verdict remains the same as in the first judicial instance. The Supreme Court has just amended the version of the law from 2006 to 2010 in terms of Article 205 of the Criminal Code, which allowed slightly reducing the term of Yusup Djaparov," the "Kommersant" quotes today the lawyer Vladimir Postanyuk as saying.
