Armenian soldier found dead at his combat post

An Armenian soldier with a gunshot wound was found dead at his combat post, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reports.

"On August 28, at about 6:30 p.m., soldier Vladimir Airapetyan, born in 1995, was found with a fatal gunshot penetrating wound to his head," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told on August 29 by the press service of the Armenian MoD.

According to the Armenian MoD, "a criminal case was instituted under Part 3 of Article 365 of the Armenian Criminal Code (violation of rules of combat duty or military service, resulting in serious consequences)."

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, Grisha Khachatryan, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Armenia, died from a gunshot wound got in the border area. Initially, it was reported that the soldier's death was caused by a shot from the Azerbaijani side; however, on June 24, Sergeant Vardan Kirakosyan was detained and then arrested in the case of the death of Grisha Khachatryan.
