ICRF: professional activities of Zheleznovodsk City Duma Speaker is considered among reasons for attempt on him

In the case of the attempt on Ararat Dovmalov, the Speaker of the City Duma of Zheleznovodsk, along with the version of hooliganism, other versions are considered, including the professional activities of the politician, said the Investigating Department (ID) for the Stavropol Territory of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The administration of Zheleznovodsk also does not rule out that the attempt on Dovmalov may have to do with his professional activities.

"The current vector towards renovation of power may meet opposition of certain political circles, especially on the eve of elections. Therefore, we can't exclude the political component in the incident," Nikolai Bondarenko, the Acting Head of the Administration of Zheleznovodsk, said on July 21, as quoted by the official portal of the Zheleznovodsk City Duma and Administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion near Dovmalov's house occurred on July 20. The Speaker heard a clap in his yard and went out of the house. When he opened the gate, an explosion followed. The politician, who headed the Duma in February 2014, was hospitalized with a brain trauma.
