Dagestan: detainee Isa Abdulkadyrov claims self-slandering after beaten up by policemen

On July 10, Isa Abdulkadyrov was detained in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. He has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had been beaten by policemen and that he had been forced to incriminate himself.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about the detention of Isa Abdulkadyrov, a 24-year-old resident of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, by Aisha Selimkhanova, a member of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy). According to the law enforcement agencies, policemen found weapons when they searched the house of Isa Abdulkadyrov. Relatives of the detainee believe the weapons were planted. They have also reported that Isa Abdulkadyrov was subjected to beatings at the police station. The detainee's relatives have added that Isa is being persecuted, since his cousin joined the armed underground.

"His condition was very poor, and his whole body was covered with bruises. He was tortured by electric current. Policemen extinguished cigarettes on his body and forced to drink brandy. Everyone who wanted came to kick him," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Mukhlisat Israpilova, a relative of the detainee.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent managed to talk to the detainee himself. According to Isa Abdulkadyrov, he was forced to testify that he accepted for storage a submachine gun and a grenade at request of his cousin Ibragim, who had been put on the wanted list for involvement in illegal armed formation (IAF).

Arsen Radjabov, an advocate, who represents Isa Abdulkadyrov's interests, has confirmed the information that his client had been beaten. "Everyone can see with naked eye the abrasions and bruises on his body. Tomorrow, I will request to conduct a forensic expertise," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Arsen Radjabov.
