Dagestan: 300 teachers held accountable for poor USE results

As reported by the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office, six employees of the Department of Education, 24 secondary school directors and more than 300 teachers of the Magaramkent District have been brought to the disciplinary responsibility for pupils' poor results at the Unified State Exams (USE) in the region of Dagestan ski involved, said.

According to prosecutors, 800 high school graduates of the above district failed to win the required passing scores at the USE. The audit showed that this was a result of improper organization of the training process.

On May 29, during the USE in the Russian language, 29 violations were registered in Dagestan. In total, in the course of the USE process, the republic fixed cases of parents' threats and attempts to bribe the public observers at the exams.

Let us note here that during the 2013 USE, most violations among Russian regions – namely, 336, were revealed in Northern Caucasus; among them, according to "Rosobrnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Education Supervision), 222 fell on Dagestan. The region was also notable for the so-called "USE-tourism", when school graduates moved from cities to the countryside, where, in their opinion, it was easier to pass the USE.
