In Armenia, the Ombudsman demands from the police to explain the fact of clash between law enforcers and activists during a protest action against rise in prices for electricity. The Ombudsman has called the police actions unprofessional. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 23, in Yerevan, a clash occurred between policemen and activists during the protest action against rise in prices for electricity. According to the Yerevan police, 27 persons were detained during the clash. In the evening of the same day, their supporters gathered in front of the central police station and demanded to release the detainees.

"To maintain public order does not mean to use force and beat people," declares the statement made by Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan and disseminated by the media on June 24.

According to the Ombudsman, the policemen used disproportionate force against protestors. He has demanded to take appropriate actions against the policemen.

However, Karen Andreasyan has noted "unacceptable behaviour of some protestors, which was expressed in insults towards law enforcers."
