Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament proposes to exclude Armenia from NATO PA

At the seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) held in Baku, Ziyafet Askerov, Vice-Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) has proposed to exclude Armenia from the organization. The politician has accused Armenian representatives in an attempt to disrupt the seminar. Leyla Yunus, Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), held a protest action at the seminar.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 16-18, Baku hosts the 86th NATO Rose Roth seminar. On the eve of the meeting in Baku, the Armenian delegation has received assurances of the delegates' safety from the Azerbaijani Parliament.

"Under the pretext of asking questions, the representatives of Armenia attack Azerbaijan in their speeches. Armenia is a terrorist state, which occupied 20% of the Azerbaijan's territory and committed more than 30 terror acts in the territory of Azerbaijan," Ziyafet Askerov has stated.

During a break in the seminar, Leyla Yunus, Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), held a protest action. The human rights activist has handed out to the foreign guests leaflets with the statement of the Centre for resistance to repression created by her in June, and the activist's supporters unfolded a poster reading: "Freedom to prisoners of conscience!", the "Contact" reports.

Then, the human rights activist has addressed to the participants of the seminar with her speech, in which she has noted that "in terms of corruption and authoritarianism, in which Azerbaijan lives, the country has no future."
