"Extraordinary Congress of Dagestani Nations" offers Ramazan Abdulatipov to resign

On May 31, Makhachkala hosted the "Extraordinary Congress of Dagestani Nations". Delegates to the Congress have proposed the Russian President to dismiss Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov ahead of schedule and appoint one of the three Dagestani politicians in his position.

Let us remind you that the Congress was originally scheduled for April 19-20 and was to be held at the "Russia" cinema. Participants of the Congress intended to discuss the social and political situation in Dagestan. However, on April 19, policemen dispersed a crowd of the delegates who gathered at the cinema.

In mid-May, the organizing committee has notified the media about the intention to hold a congress in Moscow on June 15, 2014. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been explained by Ruslan Rasulov, the head of the organizing committee, Chairman of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Union to Protect Rights and Freedoms of Nations, Humans, and Citizens", the notification was issued for the purpose of conspiracy.

"The republic is in deep crisis. The steps taken by the leader of the republic are not adequate to the situation, and they lead to its further destabilization," the resolution states.

"The Congress demands to recognize a parliamentary-presidential form of government as the only acceptable form of government in Dagestan, to ensure representation of each nation in the Parliament, and to elect a president of each nationality in turn for a period of four years," the resolution states.
