MIA announces detention in Moscow Region natives of Dagestan suspected of plotting terror act

Ten natives of Dagestan, who were allegedly plotting a subversive and terror act in the Moscow Region during the Victory Day celebrations, were detained in the Moscow Region in the place of their residence. This has been reported today by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Law enforcers held an operation to detain the suspects yet on May 7.

On the eve of May holidays, investigators of the Chief Directorate for Combating Extremism (known as GUPE) of the Russian MIA had received the information stating that the persons, who were registered by the police as persons possibly involved in the activities of the extremist Dagestani underground and living in the Moscow Region, managed to acquire components that could be used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Besides, law enforcers also got other information, from which they made a conclusion that the suspects were plotting a terror act in the Moscow Region.

Thereby, in the morning of May 7, the law enforcers conduct the special operation. As a result of the search carried out in the place of the residence of the detainees, the law enforcers found and seized an IED.

The detainees' names and the village in which the special operation has been conducted are not reported.
