Frontier Service of Ukraine: five persons killed in shootout on border with Russia's Rostov Region

During the armed clash on May 27 in the Lugansk Region near the Rostov section of the Ukrainian-Russian border, five attackers were killed and one wounded. Three Ukrainian border guards were seriously wounded, said Nikolai Litvin, the Chairman of the State Frontier Service (SFS) of Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on May 27 Ukrainian law enforcers reported an attempt of armed men in trucks and cars, moving from the Rostov Region, to break through the border. The motorcade consisted of several trucks, vans and passenger cars. Local border guards entered into battle with them. According to the latest data, Ukrainian border guards managed to damage three vehicles, kill five and wound one of the offenders; the wounded one was detained, the "Ukrainskaya Pravda" quotes Nikolai Litvin as saying at the today's press conference.

Three Ukrainian border guards were seriously wounded during the clash.

Mr Litvin has also accused Russian border guards of supporting the armed people who try to cross the Ukrainian border. They not just ignore the passage of armed men to the Ukrainian border, but also directly develop operations aimed to cross it, he said.
