Maikop opens exhibition on 150th anniversary of the end of Caucasian War

The North-Caucasian Branch of the State Museum of Oriental Arts in Maikop has opened the exhibition called "Caucasus in Eyes of 19th Century Artists", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War and displaying over 70 reproductions of the works by Russian and European artists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 150th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War will be celebrated on May 21. On that day, Adygea, Krasnodar Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia will hold rallies and marches, light candles and install commemorative monuments.

Nafset Kushu, the director of the museum, told that in selecting the works for the exhibition, the organizers were guided by the "participation principle".

Fatima Suleimanova, the curator of the exhibition, told that visitors are offered two expositions: "The first one presents graphic works from the collection of Ph.D. Batirai Edydj; the second one comprises reproductions of works of art from the collections of the best Russian museums."

The exhibition is on the list of events marking the 150th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War, approved by the order of Mukhamed Kulov, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Adygea, said Elena Eremeeva, an employee of the museum.
